Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football with volunteer work in the community. At first, he was raised by Lucious and Jessie Selmon, who lived on their Eufala farm. He was the youngest of nine kids. In football, he played along with three brothers from Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. The year 1973 was the first time Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starting line-up for just one year. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the country by Outland as well as Lombardi. Outland Awards. Oklahoma has won two National Championships throughout his three-year tenure as the player of the team. The third scholarship was awarded to him. He was as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon earned a bachelor's in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work during college. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Additionally, he started a career in the field of business. He was an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of America's top young men. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs when his college football career began. He was a captain in 1975. led the team. He became associate director of Athletics at the University of South Florida, in 1993. It was the College Football Hall of Fame honored him in the year the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame was in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 awarded their Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented the award.
