Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of football scholarships for his parents and a commitment in the local community. First, his familial. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. They raised nine children on an Eufala farm. He was also one of three siblings who represented Oklahoma in football. The three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's top lineman. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy being the starting player. Also, they won two national championships. In 1975, Selmon was awarded his third scholarship and was recognized as a National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon graduated with a diploma from the University of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy's fourth service included ten hours per week as a volunteer in college. Following college, he relocated into Tampa and played nine years with Tampa's Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro for three occasions. Then he started his career. His first job was as an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as being among Ten of America's top young males. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and was a tall of 6-2. While he was in college, he commanded the team of 1975. In 1993, Roy was a part of at the University of South Fla's athletic department as its Director of Athletics as an associate. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded their Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
