Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the benefits of football scholarship and volunteering for the community. First family he is the youngest of the nine children born to Lucious Selmon and Jessie raised on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. Two, football. He was one of the three brothers that played for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the US. The three years he was an offensive lineman, Oklahoma finished 32-1-1 and won two national championships. In 1975, Selmon was awarded his third scholarship, and was named a National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon earned a degree in education. Lee Roy was involved in volunteer work ten hour per week throughout his college years. Following graduation, Lee Roy settled in Tampa and spent the next 9 years with Tampa's Buccaneers. 3 times, he was selected All-Pro. Lee Roy began his professional career. In 1988, while working as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa and worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that the year 1982 was when The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of 10 young stars across the nation. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 7-foot-2. When he was playing college, he was the captain of the 1975 team. He was promoted to the associate director of Athletics at University of South Florida. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. In addition, he was inducted into an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor that made the award.
