Swift's popularity grew over the course of her three subsequent albums, Red (2012) and 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017) in addition to Reputation (2017), and was firmly established within a subgenre she felt was right for her. In the years after she pared her repertoire down with her stripped-down albums of the year 2020, folklore and Evermore, she still ruled the charts with pop. The position was sustained by re-recordings from her past catalogue as well as Midnights the top selling synth heavy album set for 2022.
