In the wake of Justin Bieber's dual remix to Despacito (2017) well-known musicians soon started collaborating with reggaeton musicians, such as Drake with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna and Maluma for Medellin (2019). Some reggaeton artists lamented the trend towards mainstream music in the year 2020. A newly formed group called Rauw Alejandro, wanted to continue the development and growth of reggaeton. Incorporating elements of electronic dance music, and different styles was an accepted method.
