Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist as well as a businesswoman. She is the co-founder and CEO of Thrive Global, as well as the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington has been an actor, journalist writer, television philanthropist and author for more than 10 years. She also is the owner of The Huffington Post, an independently-liberal online newsmagazine. Born in Greece and moved to England at age sixteen. In Cambridge University, she graduated with a MA in economics. At 21 she became president of the renowned debating society The Cambridge Union' and was the first non-native student who was elected to this position. In the years following her graduation, she made a name as an editor for a conservative newspaper and when the publication of The Huffington Post' few years later, she developed a voice-based website that included critical comments regarding the current political situation. It was her celebrity that helped to attract several well-known contributors to share their views on politics, news and other topics. Arianna was famous following her decision to be an independent presidential candidate during the California recall vote to succeed then Governor Davis. The project she headed was an Detroit energy-efficient vehicle project. Forbes listed her as the 12th most influential woman in the media industry in 2009 and Guardian has also placed her on the Top 100 Media List in that same year. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post, and she became president of the group of media. This was a huge acquisition that included a number of AOL brands at the time like Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and manager Konstantinos and wife Elli Stasinopoulos. Although she was close to her father it was her bond with her mother which shaped her character. As early as her childhood, she displayed the skills of leadership for which she is well-known. When she was 16 she began her study within Cambridge, United Kingdom at Girton College Cambridge. In her time at college she joined Cambridge Union. Cambridge Union debating group where she became the first female president, and also the only foreign president. In 1972, she earned an advanced degree in Economics. Following her graduation, she was a TV host and columnist. Her appearance in Face the music with Bernard Levin was also noteworthy. She started writing books and enlisting his assistance to edit.
