
Kate Hudson is an actor of great talent, most well-known for her character Penny Lane in the Hollywood movie Almost Famous which earned her an Academy Award nomination. As a child of a film family, Hudson was destined to be in the spotlight as a child. Her mother Goldie Hawn was an actor in film and her father Bill Hudson is comedian. From an early age she was a performer and would take any opportunity to perform on stage. Her parents ensured she received dancing lessons and was also trained at the Santa Monica Playhouse as a young girl. Her first acting experience came in 1996 when she was offered a part in the TV drama Party of Five. She was accepted to New York University, however, Kate Hudson was more interested in seeking a job in show business rather than earning a degree. After acting in some minor films, she was offered the role that proved to be a breakthrough role in her career. She was selected to portray Penny Lane in the comedy drama film Almost Famous. Despite being a box-office failure the film was greeted with positive reviews from critics and established Kate as an actor in the American film industry.
